This case study describes and discusses the narrative-semiotic method of research, and applies this method to the analysis of a case study in organizational communication. It aims to demonstrate a way in which principles and techniques of text analysis developed in narrative theory and semiotics can assist researchers of business and management to understand the interpersonal and communicative aspects of their field. The study demonstrates the relevance and application of narrative-semiotic tools and concepts to a case where miscommunication contributed to the development of a crisis in an organization. The case described is the Columbia space shuttle accident.
