It brings the researcher's inner being into the research process by placing the research squarely in the context of the researcher's personal growth. Paul Freinkel used it to explore a deeply personal process of individuation that he had been through, the process of transpersonal (in layman's terms psycho-spiritual) experience and growth that occurs during classical singing training. In this case study, he shows how he applied intuitive inquiry to a study that explored his own experience of the transpersonal implications of singing (the research topic) in parallel to, and in order to, more deeply understand the experience of other singers (the participants).
