Online resources: This work introduces researchers to one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). One-way ANOVA allows researchers to test the differences between means for a particular variable across two or more groups. This example uses a subset of data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) at the National Center for Education Statistics, 2012, to examine whether college graduation rates differ across types of universities. This permits an exploration of whether the type of university is associated with having a higher or lower graduation rate on average.
