At Darius D'Amore's Fragrances, Inc., a Position Opening Policy is in place, whereby any job openings are first advertised internally, before being advertised externally if no qualified candidates are found within the company. Whilst this policy was often implemented for lower-level positions, when it came to filling management roles, the policy was not always enforced. This case study focuses on the events that occurred when this policy was deviated from, and investigates whether there were discriminatory incidents of malicious intent, through which suitable internal candidates were prevented from upward movement by management.
