Ämnen: Onlineresurser: Sammanfattning: This interdisciplinary and comparative study focuses on non-binary concepts in modern art. Its goal is to rethink dichotomies and to emphasise the non-relevance of binary ways of thinking in certain situations. It thus intends the transitions between polarities to become more visible; in the same way that they were already evident in aesthetic productions around 1900. The study focuses on non-binary gender identities; but also questions binaries in relation to cultural classifications; e.g. with regard to internationality or popularisation; and the reformulation of natural aesthetics. The complexity of artistic modernity is shown as an interface for the beginning of globalisation and cultural diversification.
