Many Science Fiction stories take place in the future and serve as example when thinking about possible developments in society and technology. At the same time, SF fans cherish the genre especially because of its quirky, eccentric and often improbable worlds. Looking at recent publications and projects that actively bring together speculative literature and scenario thinking, Julia Grillmayr sheds light on the common goals and histories of Science Fiction and futurology, but also what separates them and is specific to SF as an art form.
