Representationalism, phenomenalism, and direct realism are three philosophical positions that urge us to understand differently the nature of the object of our perceptions, the relationship between the perceived world and the world understood by the sciences, and finally our own relationship with the reality to which we belong. These positions are analyzed and understood by starting from three paradoxes, to which correspond three different solutions, which are described and argued from three classical places in the philosophy of perception: Locke, Berkeley, and Austin. The intention of the book is mainly didactic, and yet page after page a theoretical proposal takes shape: the design of a direct realism that is nevertheless explicitly located only on the phenomenological-descriptive terrain.

Rappresentazionalismo, fenomenismo e realismo diretto sono tre posizioni filosofiche che ci spingono ad intendere diversamente la natura dell'oggetto delle nostre percezioni, il rapporto tra il mondo percepito e il mondo compreso dalle scienze e, infine, la nostra stessa relazione con la realtà cui apparteniamo. Tre posizioni teoriche che vengono analizzate e comprese muovendo da tre paradossi, cui corrispondono tre diverse soluzioni descritte ed argomentate muovendo da tre luoghi classici della filosofia della percezione: Locke, Berkeley e Austin. L'intento del libro è prevalentemente didattico, e tuttavia pagina dopo pagina prende forma una proposta teorica: il disegno di un realismo diretto che tuttavia si dispone esplicitamente solo sul terreno fenomenologico-descrittivo.
