Ämnen: Onlineresurser: Sammanfattning: Men, women and children wind their way along a winding path, carrying heavy packages on their shoulders. Some are accompanied by horses, carts and domesticated animals. There are many humble folk, but also a nobleman, sword at his side, on his horse, followed by servants carrying his belongings. Some of these "travellers" are chased and stopped by armed soldiers on horseback, manhandled, their belongings confiscated; some are chained, forced to turn back under guard. Faces are closed, weary. In the distance, a port, the sea, ships. In the distance, a town, which you move away from because it is in the hands of soldiers. Many French Protestants left the country following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes by Louis XIV in 1685. These Protestants wore no distinguishing marks; they could only be recognised by their flight. These Protestants were women, men and children of their time, yet their presence was unacceptable in the kingdom of the "Sun King". Why was this? Who were they? Who are they? These questions lie at the heart of the work carried out by Yves Krumenacker throughout his career, to which we pay tribute today. Alongside a collection of articles by Yves Krumenacker, this volume presents original works by colleagues, former students and friends who have had the opportunity to work with him, alongside him or under his direction, this is why the subtitle of this opus is Compagnons de route, a reminder that the work of a historian is as much a matter of a personal approach and path as it is of encounters, exchanges, collaborations, companionship and, dare we say it, friendships. These works echo the different approaches and themes to which Yves has devoted his work, or are nods to shared interests.
