This book presents a comparative analysis of the memory of colonial wars and liberation struggles that led to political change in Portugal and the independence of five new African countries: Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, and São Tomé and Príncipe. It offers a reading that highlights the changing nature of political memories and social representations. It emphasises three modes of mnemonic intersections: the intersection between distinct historical times; the intersection between multiple products and practices of memory; and the intersection between different countries and national histories. The book is one of the results of research carried out by "CROME – Crossed Memories, Politics of Silence," a project funded by a Starting Grant (715593) from the European Research Council.

Este livro apresenta uma análise comparativa sobre a memória das guerras coloniais e das lutas de libertação que conduziram à mudança política em Portugal e à independência de cinco novos países africanos: Angola, Moçambique, Guiné-Bissau, Cabo Verde e São Tomé e Príncipe. Oferece-se uma leitura que destaca a natureza mutável das memórias políticas e das representações sociais. Enfatizam-se três modos de intersecções mnemónicas: a intersecção entre tempos históricos distintos; a intersecção entre múltiplos produtos e práticas de memória; e a intersecção entre diferentes países e histórias nacionais. O livro é um dos resultados da investigação desenvolvida pelo "CROME – Crossed Memories, Politics of Silence", projeto financiado por uma Starting Grant (715593) do Conselho Europeu de Investigação.
