How is gender portrayed in the media and how does it reproduce stereotypes? This volume is a compilation of linguistic studies by students of gender linguistics. It focusses on gender stereotypes and their representation and reproduction in print, audio and audiovisual media, and especially in advertising. The results contribute to the expansion of the empirical data base on gender-linguistic issues in linguistics, which is currently still sparse.
