Based on the particularities and dynamics of Portugal's economic reality and socio-political environment, this book brings together a diverse range of experiences and struggles, creating a vivid portrait of the dynamic reality of people with disabilities in Portugal at the beginning of the third decade of the 21st century. At the same time as it seeks to contribute to the development of Disability Studies in our country, this collection seeks to account for the vibrant diversity of experiences of people with disabilities, affirming the importance of their crucial contribution to a critical thinking made up of emancipatory knowledge, insurgent identities and renewed agendas for social justice. This book thus seeks to think about democracy from the bodies, voices and experiences of people with disabilities in Portugal.

Partindo das particularidades e dinâmicas da realidade económica e do ambiente sociopolítico português, este livro convoca um quadro diverso de experiências e lutas compondo um retrato vívido da realidade dinâmica das pessoas com deficiência em Portugal no início da terceira década do século XXI. Ao mesmo tempo que procura contribuir para a valorização dos Estudos da Deficiência no nosso país, esta coletânea procura dar conta da pujante diversidade de experiências das pessoas com deficiência, afirmando a importância do seu crucial contributo para um pensamento crítico composto de saberes emancipadores, identidades insurgentes e de renovadas agendas de justiça social. Este livro procura, assim, pensar a democracia a partir dos corpos, das vozes e das experiências das pessoas com deficiência em Portugal.
