The book deals with methodological and theoretical issues, including subjectivity and identity, along with education and professional and non-professional activity of people with disabilities. It draws attention to opportunities and challenges that arise from the sociocultural, systemic and institutional context in the research on disability. Individual chapters include specific cases that exemplify a given problem, and relate direct experiences of researchers analyzing the disability phenomenon in various spheres of social life. The publication combines features of a scientific study based on the authors' own research and of a practical guide with recommendations. Therefore, it should be of interest not only to representatives of scientific fields but also to practitioners employed in aid institutions, non-governmental and state organizations, whose primary areas of activity cover examining the situation of people with disabilities and designing changes aimed at improving their quality of life.
