We will briefly retrace the path that led from the School of Social Work, a private initiative, started after the Second World War, to the Higher School for Special Purposes, in the university environment, up to the university diploma and then to the degrees awarded by the Faculty/School. The restructuring and requalification of Social Work through the regulatory reforms of the last quarter of the century has led to it becoming a strong point both in quantitative and qualitative terms. The commitment of the teaching staff has been aimed at making the most of the traditional interdisciplinary skills of the Faculty to build a solid initial cultural base for future social workers; and on this basis to graft an equally solid professional competence. Until the consolidation of a virtuous circle between academic teachers and social work professionals.
