There have been significant improvements in basic science, technology, and diagnostic tests that influence our approach to uveitis. Recent advances in basic immune response and how to manipulate this response have resulted in modifications in the way we diagnose and manage uveitis. The discovery of new cytokines and inflammatory pathways has resulted in a better understanding of disease pathogenesis and innovative therapeutic targets. There have also been improvements in the way drugs are locally delivered to the eye. This book is a user-friendly, up-to-date review for diagnosing and treating uveitis that is useful for both ophthalmologists and non-ophthalmologists managing cases of ocular inflammatory diseases. It discusses the anatomy of the uveal tract, herpes simplex virus-associated anterior uveitis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis-associated uveitis, Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease, and malignancies masquerading as uveitis.
