The main objective of this paper is to determine the role of environmental supplier evaluation in buyer-supplier relationships.This work comprises two theoretical chapters and two empirical chapters. The research methods used are a critical analysis of the literature and a survey conducted using the Computer Aided Telephone Interview (CATI) technique.The results of the research activities include the development of author's definitions, including the environmental supplier evaluation, determining the classification of buyer-supplier relationships, proposing a new approach to supplier evaluation, proposing a classification of areas of supplier evaluation, determining the conditions (benefits, barriers, motivating factors and enabling factors) for conducting environmental supplier evaluation by companies, developing recommendations for conducting environmental supplier evaluation and identifying recommendations for future research.
