This currently implies, among other things, the importance of discussing, polemizing, and confronting those perspectives that have technified and instrumentalized pedagogy, reducing it to a merely practical, technical field, unrelated to epistemological, ethical, philosophical, and/or political issues. In this regard, the essays that comprise the book substantially distance themselves from those perspectives that conceive our field as a terrain that should advocate for neutrality, impartiality, and asepsis; and they propose clear and explicit positions regarding social justice, democracy, equality, and dignity. These are texts that do not shy away from social and political commitments, that do not hesitate to "take sides" or to outline a critique of those structures, mechanisms, and/or mechanisms responsible for generating exclusion, marginalization, poverty, and domination. Thus presented, this collection of essays constitutes a trench book, with political and pedagogical perspectives committed to contributing to emancipatory cultural and educational processes.
