Starting with the issue of the sociopolitical relevance of aesthetics, this volume compares central concepts from art theory by looking at selected works, spanning Greek and Roman antiquity, the Early Modern period, and Schiller's theoretical writings, right up to the Fluxus artworks of the late twentieth century.
