The fifth book in the series "Philosophy of Culture and Education" fills a long-standing gap in an area of research that is important for pedagogy, cultural studies, and political and ethical thought. It fits perfectly into the profile of the series in the context of the author's interpretation of the ideas of one of the most important contemporary thinkers. Dr. Włodarczyk combines themes from Jewish tradition and culture, from which Levinas draws his inspiration, with themes present in the ethical and political tradition of Western philosophy, within which it is customary to consider Levinas's works, and against this background he formulates the foundations of an original concept, defined in the work as the pedagogy of asylum. The work, carefully and interestingly written, is an excellent lecture on Levinas' philosophy, drawing a broad background for the "pedagogy that is to come." It is a significant text for theoretical debates in the field of Polish philosophy of education and—indirectly, or rather potentially—intercultural pedagogy.

Kolejna, piąta już książka w serii "Filozofia kultury i edukacja", wypełnia długoletnie dotkliwe braki w istotnym dla pedagogiki, kulturoznawstwa oraz myśli polityczno-etycznej obszarze badawczym, doskonale wpisuje się w profil serii – w kontekście autorskiej interpretacji myśli jednego z najważniejszych współczesnych myślicieli. Dr Włodarczyk łączy wątki tradycji i kultury żydowskiej, z której czerpie swe inspiracje Levinas, z wątkami obecnymi w etyczno-politycznej tradycji filozofii zachodniej, w obrębie której zwyczajowo przyjęło się rozpatrywać dzieła Levinasa, i na tym tle formułuje podstawy oryginalnej koncepcji, określonej w pracy jako pedagogika azylu. Praca, starannie i ciekawie napisana, jest znakomitym wykładem Levinasowskiej filozofii, rysującym szerokie tło dla "pedagogiki, która ma nadejść". Jest to znaczący tekst dla teoretycznych debat w obszarze polskiej filozofii wychowania i – jeszcze pośrednio, czy raczej potencjalnie – pedagogiki międzykulturowej.
