Desde el estudio de la vida de las monjas españolas en la Edad moderna hasta el tratamiento de las mujeres internadas en el hospital psiquiátrico de Málaga a finales del siglo 20, pasando por el relato de la lucha por el reconocimiento de la identidad indígena y el surgimiento de los derechos de la mujer ecuatoriana, la descripción de la pintura de castas peruana del siglo 18 o el análisis de las relaciones sexuales extramatrimoniales (consensuales o no) en la España de la Contrarreforma, este libro colectivo explora las diferentes instancias de socialización: la religión, el mundo del trabajo, los poderes político y judicial, la educación… para elaborar un mosaico esclarecedor de la historia de la identidad femenina personal y colectiva en el mundo hispanohablante.
