This study examines the impact of scientific works on software in Ecuador, highlighting their relevance for socioeconomic and scientific progress. The methodology, based on four milestones, used bibliometric methods and content analysis. The articles, collected from Scopus and Web of Science, ensured the relevance and accuracy of the information. Tools such as RStudio, VOSviewer and Python were used for data processing. From 2014 to 2023, scientific production in Ecuador has grown significantly, with an average annual increase of 58.33%. This reflects a greater research capacity and allocation of resources towards science and technology. Ecuador has had a notable impact on citations, especially in software, with 469 citations (26.80% of the total), demonstrating the relevance of its research. The study shows a healthy balance between national and international collaborations, with a collaboration index of 0.517, strengthening scientific capacity. Educational institutions are fundamental for the scientific and technological development of the country, and strengthening them is key to maintaining Ecuador's scientific competitiveness. Avenues for future research and public policies that promote the strategic role of software in national advancement are suggested.

El presente estudio examina el impacto de trabajos científicos sobre el software en Ecuador, destacando su relevancia para el progreso socioeconómico y científico. La metodología, basada en cuatro hitos, utilizó métodos bibliométricos y análisis de contenido. Los artículos, recopilados de Scopus y Web of Science, garantizan la relevancia y precisión de la información. Se utilizaron herramientas como RStudio, VOSviewer y Python para el procesamiento de datos. Desde 2014 hasta 2023, la producción científica en Ecuador ha crecido significativamente, con un aumento promedio anual del 58,33%. Esto refleja una mayor capacidad investigativa y asignación de recursos hacia la ciencia y la tecnología. Ecuador ha tenido un impacto notable en citaciones, especialmente en software, con 469 citaciones (26,80% del total), evidenciando la relevancia de su investigación. El estudio muestra un balance saludable entre colaboraciones nacionales e internacionales, con un índice de colaboración de 0,517, fortaleciendo la capacidad científica. Instituciones educativas son fundamentales para el desarrollo científico y tecnológico del país, y fortalecerlas es clave para mantener la competitividad científica de Ecuador. Se sugieren vías para futuras investigaciones y políticas públicas que promuevan el papel estratégico del software en el avance nacional.
