It has long been known that most migrants send certain amounts of money, called remittances, to their countries of origin from the savings they make in the destination countries where they work. This has happened in the different migratory processes that we have known in Spain, from the migrations of the so-called Indians from northern Spain to the Americas until well into the twentieth century. The book is the result of a research carried out in the Region of Murcia in 2011, an investigation that has been carried out at the request of the directors of the Garden Azuayo Cooperative, from Canton Paute in the Azuay Province of Ecuador and with financial support from it. This cooperative, born in the Canton of Paute, under the initiative of D. Hernán Rodas Martínez, Catholic parish priest of the same, and with the advice of D. Paciente Vázquez, economist, professor at the University of Cuenca (Ecuador) and general secretary, has had a surprising success in the rural communities of the provinces of Azuay, Cañar, Guayas, El Oro, Loja and Zamora Chinchipe, which in the midst of the economic and political crisis in Ecuador opted for an organizational and cooperative response to their situation. The rapid and gradual growth in membership, the high level of income generated and activities carried out by the Azuayo Garden Cooperative in favour of the associated farmers and the leaders of the various offices spread over the territory has forced a constant reflection to feed the needs of knowledge of cooperatives and to guide the decision-making essential in their management. The work is structured in eight parts, which are: 1) An introduction justifying the choice of topic. 2) A chapter on previous demographic issues, which deals with the Ecuadorian population in Spain and the Region of Murcia, and contains an annex with maps, tables and demographic graphs. 3) A brief report on remittances sent from Spain to Ecuador, with an annex containing tables and graphs. 4) Data on financial institutions and brokers in the Region of Murcia. Includes an annex showing tables on financial institutions and remittance agencies in the Region of Murcia. 5) Analysis of data from discussion groups and interviews with Ecuadorian immigrants in the Region of Murcia, which also indicates the methodological process used for analyzing the data, and an annex with the guide to work. 6) Presentation of conclusions and proposals 7) Three pages containing the bibliography used. 8) An annex describing the statistical analysis of he surveys. The sample comprised a total of 104 people living in six municipalities in the Region of Murcia (Cartagena, Fuente Alamo, Lorca, Mazarrón, Murcia and Totana)
