The authors re-create the beginnings of the Polish narrative, parallel to the Holocaust taking place. They analyse its dominant elements (anti-Semitic discourse, German barbarity and the Polish guilt). The authors also present a different, critical diagnosis by a Polish witness of the Holocaust as well as dangerous signs of anti-Semitism just after the war. The lasting patterns of culture are revealed as the common source of these.
