Through a critical and multidisciplinary lens, the authors explore how the Colombian press constructed the image of the perpetrator, Campo Elías Delgado, as a symbolic embodiment of absolute evil—while disregarding the historical and psychosocial contexts that shaped his life. From the sensationalist narratives in El Tiempo to the more clinical tone of Semana, this study unveils the ideological biases of the media and its role in shaping public fear. A través de una mirada crítica y multidisciplinaria, los autores examinan cómo la prensa colombiana construyó la imagen del asesino Campo Elías Delgado como figura simbólica del mal absoluto, dejando de lado los contextos históricos y psicosociales que marcaron su vida. Desde el sensacionalismo del periódico El Tiempo hasta la aproximación más clínica de Semana, este texto evidencia los sesgos ideológicos de los medios y su papel en la formación del pánico colectivo. Con el respaldo de teorías de la comunicación, la subjetividad y la hermenéutica del resentimiento, el libro va más allá de los hechos: reconstruye una biografía social, familiar y emocional, tan perturbadora como esclarecedora.
