Self-government in the skilled crafts sector is characterised by the involvement of company owners and employees. This neo-corporatist approach brings with it both advantages and legal challenges, and represents a fundamental difference to self-administration in the chambers of industry and commerce. The study shows solutions for practical problems as well as scientific questions. To this end, the basic structures of craft self-government are examined for elements of cooperation, the historical background of these regulations is illuminated and the effects of internal cooperation on various areas, such as membership relationships, financing or the performance of tasks, are analysed.

Die Selbstverwaltung des Handwerks ist geprägt von der Einbeziehung der Betriebsinhaber:innen und der Arbeitnehmer:innen. Dieser neokorporatistische Ansatz bringt sowohl Vorteile als auch rechtlich Herausforderungen mit sich, und stellt einen elementaren Unterschied zur Selbstverwaltung in den Industrie- und Handelskammern dar. Die Studie zeigt Lösungswege für Praxisprobleme sowie wissenschaftliche Fragestellungen. Hierzu werden die grundlegenden Strukturen der handwerklichen Selbstverwaltung auf Kooperationselemente untersucht, der historische Hintergrund dieser Regelungen beleuchtet und die Auswirkungen der internen Kooperation auf verschiedene Bereiche, wie etwa die Mitgliedschaftsverhältnisse, Finanzierung oder Aufgabenwahrnehmung, analysiert.
