The Visegrad Group (V4) was established in 1991. It is a political organization which also has a cultural, social and scientific dimensions. The Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary have also belonged to the European Union (EU) since 2004. Social problems in these countries differ from those in other EU countries. The analysis of poverty in the countries of the Visegrad Group in 2004–2019 period shows positive changes. Poverty has decreased in all countries since 2004. The biggest positive changes took place in Poland. There has been a significant improvement in the material situation of the poorest ethnic group (Roma) in Hungary. Various indicators of the risk of poverty and social inequality consistently show the improvement of the socio-economic situation of the poorest categories of the V4 population.
